Butoh is a dance movement that began in Japan after World War II as a form of rebellion against western dance and Japanese traditional dance.  It also has its roots in German Expressionism (Die Neue Tanz).  Butoh has been described as "evasion of definition," or "unclassifiable."

"Butoh is definitely Japan's gift to world art and individual/community awareness and growth."  Kata Pierece, Golden Corpse Butoh.
