Summer Camp 2010 (Grades 5-8)

Monday, August 2, 2010 - 8:00pm - Friday, August 6, 2010 - 11:00pm

This summer, our campers are invited to explore Japan right here at the Japanese Friendship Garden! We'll take you on a cultural journey with courses in Japanese traditions such as cuisine, clothing, tea ceremonies and crafts like origami.

Our camp will also include classes about Japanese pop culture and related arts. Of course, since you're at the Garden, you'll be learning about horticulture and koi biology from the experts. Classes will be interactive, so get ready to get your hands dirty!

A sample day out of the fifth through eight grade class syllabus includes gyotaku (fish printing), a haiku session with Haiku San Diego followed by a bonsai lesson from one of our experts.

Time: 1pm-4pm
Grades 5-8: August 2-6
