Chanoyu, or the Way of Tea, is a spiritual and aesthetic discipline for the refinement of oneself through the study and preparation of matcha tea. One of the pillars of Japanese traditions, Chanoyu was created by Sen no Rikyu 400 years ago. Through the mastering of these four principles: Wa-Harmony, Kei-Respect, Sei-Purity and Jaku-Tranquility, the practitioner gains an understanding and appreciation of everyday activities.
