Thank you for your interest in visiting the Japanese Friendship Garden. We look forward to groups enjoying our garden via a self-guided tour or a docent-led tour.

Tour Reservation Guidelines

Please reserve a tour at least three weeks in advance after reviewing the private tour policy below to ensure understanding of the JFG tour.. Private tours are not available on Residents Free Tuesday (3rd Tuesday of each month). To ensure sufficient time to experience the Garden, morning tours start at 10:00 am, afternoon tours start prior to 2:30 pm. Please contact us for further details if your request lies outside of these times. Once you have submitted your tour request via the online form, the Program Coordinator will contact you to confirm the details of your tour request.

Note: Admission is required in addition to any fees mentioned. San Diego Unified School District is exempt of admission fees, but donations are greatly appreciated.

Japanese Friendship Garden Tour Policy

Garden Arrival

• Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start of your tour. If your group is larger than 15 people, it will be necessary to separate the large group into smaller sub-groups. Please designate groups/chaperones prior to your arrival to the garden.

School Chaperones

• We require one chaperone for every 15 students.
• Groups of K-1, we require one chaperone for every 10 students.

Cancellation Policy

• Out of consideration for our volunteers and staff, a minimum cancellation notice of 24 hours is required. Please notify the Program Coordinator at programs@niwa.org as soon as possible.
