Karesansui - Zen Garden
Alcohol Ink Art
Creating My Own Zen Garden with Ink & Texture
Inspired by Japanese gardens, this is a calm, mindful art experience you won’t want to miss.
In this workshop, you’ll use alcohol inks and textures to create your very own “Karesansui” (Japanese dry landscape garden).
Karesansui is a traditional Japanese garden style that expresses nature using stones and sand. Its beauty lies in the spaces in between, the quietness, and the sense of balance.
Choose your favorite colors to paint on pre-prepared moss, arrange them freely on your plate, and then use textures to create sand patterns. Feel the flow, balance, and rhythm as you craft your personal garden.
Along the way, you’ll also learn about the meaning of Karesansui and the symbolism of moss—touching on the sensibilities that Japanese culture has cherished for centuries.
As you work with your hands, you’ll feel your mind gradually settling.
The finished piece isn’t just art—it’s your very own “garden that reflects your heart.”
Bring a little calm and gentle beauty into your everyday life.
A relaxing, enjoyable, and thoughtful art experience awaits.

Meet the Instructor - ERIKA ART WORKS
I am an artist who creates abstract works and small pieces using fluid art techniques such as alcohol ink and resin. My work explores the stories that emerge from the movement of color and the beauty of unexpected patterns. What I hope to share through my art is a moment of returning to yourself —a space where you can be honest with what you truly like.
As we grow older, we often prioritize work, family, and the expectations of others, slowly losing touch with our own feelings and the things that once excited us. That’s why I want people to experience the simple joy of choosing colors they love, trusting the flow, and feeling their heart lift when an unexpected pattern appears.
Fluid art has no right or wrong, no success or failure.
When you let the colors move freely, you naturally reconnect with your inner voice.
I hope my work and classes become a gentle reminder of the “spark” you may have forgotten—
and help you rediscover the small moments of wonder and joy within yourself.
