AsaKatsu translates to “morning activity” which many people in Japan participate in to help make them more productive for the rest of the day.

Each month will have virtual events you can join from anywhere based on a central theme and one payment of $25 gives you access to all scheduled AsaKatsu events for the current month!

Let’s visit popular destinations in Japan - virtually - and learn practical Japanese phrases as well as Japanese culture.

Origami The Art of Paper Folding

Discover the art of paper folding! These classes will introduce a variety of patterns and techniques to achieve different models and shapes. We’ll make aspects of Japanese culture and aspects of The Japanese Friendship Garden out of paper! You can also learn basic Japanese phrases and cultural and historical aspects of Japan while making origami. Any paper type can be used during this class and no previous experience is necessary.

Shodo and Haiku The Art of Japanese Writing and Haiku

Shodo is a combination of calligraphy writing and Zen enlightenment (Ku and Mu). During these classes, students will learn Japanese Haiku and basic stroke skills and brush techniques to write beautiful letters.
