Culminating over 60 years of research and experiments, artist John Conrad developed the spectacular finish that is seen on the Chromatic Collection. These pieces showcase a coating that is revolutionary as it applies to the porcelain medium.

The chromatic finish is a combination of metallic flake and silica, which is then adhered onto porcelain using modern plasma technology. This unique finish combines classic ceramic firing techniques, with a futuristic twist, which creates a colorful and refractive viewing experience!

John Conrad has lived in the San Diego area with his family since the mid 60’s, when he accepted a position at Mesa College as an art department faculty member. Over the years, Conrad focused much of his research to fusing glass onto clay, and glazing with metallic substances. This research was well documented in his 9 authored books on ceramics.

John has become an international ambassador in the ceramic community. He has enjoyed many trips to China, and overseas as he partners with educational institutions and governments, in hopes of continuing to preserve ancient formulas, and the history of how the porcelain arts have evolved.
