What is Jikiden Reiki?

Reiki is a holistic wellness method for body and mind. It was developed in Japan by Mikao Usui sensei in the 1920s, and in recent years has gained tremendous popularity around the world. During a Reiki session, the client is usually lying (fully clothed) on a massage table, and a practitioner places his or her hands on the client's body promoting the movement of Ki (the life force energy) and thus facilitating the natural self-healing. Reiki is very gentle, yet effective healing art, and it usually feels very relaxing.

Dr. Maria Danilychev, MD, is a board-certified medical doctor, a hospice medical director and a clinical researcher. She has found that Reiki had a noticeable benefit for her hospice patients, and was so impressed with the effects, that she has learned Reiki herself and became a Jikiden Reiki Shihan (master/teacher), credentialed by the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Japan. Notably, Jikiden Reiki is the only Reiki style that has been preserved in Japan without any western influences, and it is the most authentic form of this mind-body healing art that one can find today.
