SHICHI-GO-SAN 2025
Celebrate Shichi-Go-San, where children will have the opportunity to be dressed in traditional kimonos and photographed in the beautiful Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum! Traditionally in Japan, girls (ages three and seven) and boys (age five) are dressed in traditional kimonos and brought to the nearby shrines in order to pray for good health.
*This event is reservation based. Registration is required and available on a first come, first served basis.

Registration Fees
$220 per child getting their photos taken (JFGM Member price)
$250 Non-members
*Registration includes a photoshoot reservation time slot with a volunteer photographer, digital photos, and garden admission for both the child and two direct family members. (Photoshoot includes a minimum of 15 professional photos).
Kimono rentals are an additional fee. For kimono rentals and time slot reservations, please contact Yuko Niwa at yukoniwa@gmail.com
Additional Information
Kimono dressing and photography lasts approximately 1 hour.
Registration fees include your child’s photoshoot appointment, photographer, and digital photos. (Kimono rental is not included. Contact Yuko Niwa directly for rates and fees).
CANCELLATIONS within 10 days of appointment will not be refunded. Please note that an admin fee of $15 will apply to all refunds.
Payments must be completed with registration. Day-of payments and walk-ins will not be accepted.
Paid parking is available in Balboa Park. It is highly recommended to arrive 30 minutes prior to your reservation time.
Children renting a kimono should arrive wearing a white v-neck t-shirt, and shorts or leggings. The kimono and juban will be put over your child’s shirt.
All kimono rentals and kimono rental payment will be coordinated through Yuko Niwa (yukoniwa@gmail.com).
JFGM Safety Policies
Please follow JFGM etiquette to optimize each child’s reservation.
Registrants will be dressed one at a time, inside the Education Center in the upper garden.
Waived admission is limited to 2 family members per registered child. Additional guests of Shichi Go San registrants must pay JFGM admission.

*Your reservation is not confirmed until payment is received. Failure to submit a completed waiver form within one (1) week of payment may lead to cancellation.
Kimono rental reservations, kimono rental payment and dressing will be coordinated by Yuko Niwa. For Rental arrangements please contact yukoniwa@gmail.com.
Kimono rental fee typically includes: kimono, obi, hakama, juban, tabi & zori(socks & sandals) and the dressing service.
