The mission of the Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum (JFGM) is to develop a traditional Japanese garden as a center to educate, engage, and inspire people of diverse backgrounds about Japanese culture and community legacy.

To uphold our mission, JFGM participates in San Diego Resident Free Tuesday every 3rd Tuesday of the month (expect for March which will be held on the first Tuesday). To enjoy free admission, guests must show an ID or other proof of San Diego County residency. Starting in January, the San Diego Resident Free Tuesday theme will be sustainability and will continue through March 2026.
