Shinrinyoku - Walking Meditation & Restorative Yoga


Date: December 14th (monthly on the weekend)

Time: 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Location: Lower Garden Koi Deck *location might change due to the construction

In Walking Meditation, participants are invited to explore the Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum with Ai while practicing mindful awareness of the breath. This is followed by a Restorative Yoga session, a gentle practice focused on relaxation and rejuvenation. In Restorative Yoga, postures are held for 2–5 minutes with the support of props such as Yoga blankets and bolsters to provide comfort for the legs, knees, arms, and back. Please bring a yoga blanket and bolster, but items such as pillows and beach towels can easily be substituted.

Shinrinyoku - is a Japanese term that translates literally to “forest bathing.” It supports mental and physical well-being.

Instructor: Ai Kuwayama

Ai Kuwayama is originally from Japan and has lived in San Diego for over 20 years. She holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology -Integrative Wellness from Point Loma Nazarene University and is a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC). In addition, Ai is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-500) and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). Ai is also a Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness instructor.

With years of experience teaching a wide variety of Group Fitness and Yoga classes, Ai is passionate about integrative wellness and promoting health, fitness, and wellness holistically. She is passionate about helping people enhance physical and emotional well-being through mindfulness by cultivating self-awareness and self-compassion.
